iOS VS ANDROID - WHICH ONE IS BETTER ?

iOS and Android are the 2 most popular operating systems today. Comparing them have always been such a hot topic. Both have excellent performances and a lot of outstanding features. So, in this post, we would like to compare and contrast these two to see which one really has the advantage ?

Compare :

One similarity that can not be denied is that iOS and Android are both the most common used operating system. Apple Inc. And Google are considered to be two of the Big Four technology companies, alongside Amazon and Facebook.

Contrast :

1. Developer :

The main different between iOS and Android is the developers. The developer of iOS is Apple Inc. - an American multinational technology company headquartered in Cupertino, California, that designs, develops, and sells consumer electronicscomputer software, and online services. Android is developed by Google, an American multinational technology company that specializes in Internet-related services and products, which include online advertising technologiessearch enginecloud computing, software, and hardware.

2. Customizability :

If you use Android, you can easily customize your phone ! You can set up the layout on your home screen, add widgets and also change your interface ! And if you use iOS, you may can change your background or your apps’ position but you won’t have the chance to add the widgets or set up your interface like Android, so if you enjoy an unique look for your homescreen, then Android would be a better choice for you !

3. File transfer :

With iOS devices, media files can be transferred using iTunes desktop app. Photos can be transferred out via USB without apps. But this is much easier with Android, you can use USB port and Android File Transfer desktop app. Photos can be transferred via USB without apps.

4. Internet browsing :

Both iOS and Android can use a lot of different browsers, but for iOS, it has only one default browser, Safari. Android is much easier, we can change the browser into whatever we feel suitable. They have the same abilities and quality, however, Safari is not available for Android.

5. Available languages :

As the security is lower, Android has a lot of free features, which are easily hacked or downloaded, and one of them is a free pack of languages including more than 100 languages. iOS is hard to access, and the language is limited to only 34 languages.

6. Battery life :

There is different amount of battery life in every section, but up until now, there are so many Android phone manufacturers equip their devices with large batteries and longer life. Meanwhile, iOS generally does not contain as much batteries as the largest Android devices. Nevertheless, iOS is able to squeeze decent battery life via software or hardware optimizations

7. Photos & Videos backup :

If you use the Photos app in Android, then you can automatically back up all your photos and videos. There’s no doubt that Google Photos is the best option because it offers unlimited free storage, provided you don’t mind the 16-megapixel limit for images and the 1080p resolution limit for video. On the other hand, in IOS, you can back up photos and videos at the original resolution with iCloud, but you only get 5GB of free space with iCloud, compared to 15GB with Google. This category is complicated by the fact that the default on iOS is iCloud, but you can also use Google’s Photos on iOS.

8. Security :

Specific manufacturers like Samsung have taken extra efforts to beef up security for the enterprise market. But the messy nature of updates on many Android devices can seriously delay important security patches.
Speedy updates are now more important than ever because security enforces are becoming more serious. Android is behind in the update world unless you have a stock Android device, and so it is less secure. In contrast Apple has worked on improved security for general consumers, most notably with Touch ID and Face ID in the iPhone X and later. Apple has on apps and the ability to push updates out to more devices, more quickly, gives it an edge over Android. The company also codes data in iMessage and its other apps.

9. Affordability :

Apple has always been at the high end of the market in terms of pricing, but the iPhone X took things to a whole new level with a starting price of $1,000 and the iPhone 11 Pro Max starts at $1,100. If you need something more affordable, the iPhone 11 starts from $700 and the older iPhone 8 from $450. That’s as cheap as it gets unless you delve into the secondhand market. For sheer scale and variety of Android, you can spend a lot if you want to, for example, Samsung’s Galaxy Note line almost matches Apple’s iPhone pricing, but there’s also a huge selection of good, low-cost handsets from a wide variety of different manufacturers. The fact that Android also leads the field in free apps makes it the natural choice for the budget-conscious.

10. Maps :

Additionally, Apple Maps, which is a new navigation system is improving fastly. It can be downloaded for offline use and people who are using it can get a very accurate information of the traffic conditions. However, one thing that Google Maps offers that Apple Maps doesn’t is cycling directions. It is more detailed than Apple Map and the accuracy of Google Map is much better overall !

11. Voice commands :

With Siri you can do a lot of things such as call somebody, send texts, set calendar, time, date, appointments or search the web ! However, Google Assistant still offer a larger layer as it can provide you a lot of suggestions and information based on what you’re doing ! Also , Google Assistant can offer things like call screening ( you will know who are calling you even if you don’t have their number by checking the ID and a lot of other methods ) and can make reservations for you !

In conclusion, iOS and Android both have their own advantages on different faces. It is hard to say which one is really better because different categories will be important to different people.
